About Utah Orthodontist Dr. Jon Silcox, DDS, MS

Jon Silcox, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Jon Silcox has always strived for excellence in everything he has done. He graduated Magna Cum Laud from Brigham Young University and as the Senior Student of the Year in the Department of Physical Education. After earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Physiology at BYU, he began his pursuit of a dental career at the University of North Carolina. Dr. Silcox received his D.D.S. degree among the top of his class and was honored as a member of the national dental honor society, Omega Kappa Upsilon. Immediately following his dental training, Dr. Silcox was accepted to the prestigious 3-year orthodontic residency program at the University of North Carolina where he earned a certificate and a master’s degree in orthodontics. Subsequent to his official training, Dr. Silcox joined the orthodontic faculty at UNC, where he taught residents and dental students clinical orthodontics and also worked outside of academics in a private practice.
Only months prior to finishing his orthodontic training at UNC, Dr. Silcox was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer called Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). Of course, this unexpected turn of events carried him and his family on a life-changing journey. He underwent chemotherapy and received a life-saving bone marrow transplant less than five months after diagnosis. Dr. Silcox was able to make a complete recovery and now enjoys his second chance at life. Of all the honors and degrees Dr. Silcox has earned, the title he is most proud of is "Survivor." Dr. Silcox was raised in Draper, Utah and graduated from Alta High School. It was during high school that he met his future wife, Quinn Romney. They loved living in North Carolina for almost eight years, but are thrilled to be back by the mountains and surrounded by family. They have been blessed with three children: two sons and one daughter who are the pride of their lives. Outside the office, Dr. Silcox can be found water and snow skiing, mountain biking, white water rafting, coaching his kids’ sports teams and cheering for the Tar Heels.
Dr. Silcox has offices in Cottonwood Heights, Utah and Green River, Wyoming where he maintains practices dedicated to excellent patient care and the best treatment in an extremely friendly atmosphere. Dr. Silcox’s treatment philosophy integrates state-of-the-art technology with evidence-based scientific knowledge. He diligently serves his patients with a hard-work ethic, commitment to excellence, and dedication to lifelong continuing education and learning. Creating beautiful smiles that transform lives is his passion.
